Day 2 – Ume River
Saturday 4th November 2000
Please don’t forget to wait for the photos to load.
They could take a while as there are a lot of them. We left Sampakuruma at 5am (some of us still
asleep), for the Ume River. The sky was clear and bright, and it was stinking
hot by 8 am. We arrived at the Ume River mouth at 10.30 am, and the Captain
found a small bay off the main river, to moor in. We spent the day relaxing,
fishing & game viewing. It was wonderful. I have never seen so many fish
eagles in my life ! Nightfall brought the mosquitoes, hence the name
“Mosquito Bay”. We made up our minds to move the following day !
The close of another day.
