Zimbabwe – the Countdown Begins
The Zimbabwe Situation & Zimbabwe News

My New Blog from June 2006

This site was never intended as a “FUN !” site, or a “Personal HomePage !”

I first started this website on the 3rd June 2000 because I was so ANGRY at the situation in Zimbabwe. Since then, we have had our elections, have a new Government in power, and guess what ?

I’M STILL ANGRY !

If you want to find out why,

Welcome !!

I would like it to be known that I am NOT inciting anyone to violence or civil disobedience. I am NOT inciting anyone to commit any act against our Government or Head of State. I am NOT urging any Zimbabwean to join a political party whether it be ZanuPF or MDC. I AM an MDC supporter, which is my civil right. I am NOT recommending the use of violence against any member of our society. I have NEVER believed that violence is the solution to the problems here in Zimbabwe, and I never will. There is a solution to our problems, and I believe that the Law must be strictly adhered to in everything that we do.

We, as a family, have been in the UK since the end of 2001. We are finally settling down - it hasn't been easy. I REALLY miss Zimbabwe - we all do, but we have put the past behind us and are trying to make a new life. All my children have now left Africa (my son who was in Joburg arrived here on the 2nd April 2003). The children love it here: I still pine for the African sun. I need to hear the call of the fish eagles as they fly over the Ume River. I need to feel the cold water of the rivers in the Nyanga district. I need to hear the crashing thunder of the summer storm, and watch the steam rise from the hot tar on the road. I need to walk barefoot on cool grass and sit it the shade of the mopane tree at the bottom of the garden. Will it ever happen ? Who knows. Think of us now and then. Bless you all - Lorraine

Latest News Page
Updated 11th June 2006

I've just started a Blog on our life here in England. You can read all my latest news there. Thanks.

If you LOVE Zimbabwe, and are sad to see what is happening in the country, please email me !! I would like to do a feature page on "What Zimbabwe means to Me". I would love to hear from you. You may remain anonymous if you wish. Thanks.

You will find links to interesting Zimbabwean sites on your right and left. The links to pages on this site include the following:

  • History – a brief history of the run up to the elections, details of events from February 2000

  • Farm Reports – these are issued by the CFU (Commercial Farmers Union).

  • News Pages – I started writing these on the 3rd June, and as each one got too long to scroll down, I created another one. I try to update at least weekly (not always successful) !
